First Fireplace Fire of the Year

As the colder weather continues in Georgia you’re likely to want to start a fire in your fireplace. Here’s a few helpful reminders that will ensure your safety.

Clean the Chimney

Cleaning the Chimney should be left to a professional before the your first fire of the year. A lot of debris can fill and take over your fireplace chimney and it’s important to have this cleared since it could start a secondary fire or clog up the smoke exits.

Damper Switch

Make sure this is switched to open to allow your fireplace to properly ventilate.

Proper Extinguish

Always be sure that the fireplace is no longer on fire before leaving or going to bed for the night. A light layer of baking soda over the fire will help extinguish the fire rapidly.
